The Danske Bank Group considers diversity a strength that helps give us access to the most talented prospective employees. This is true of the gender mix in the Group’s management as well. Offering appealing career opportunities to both male and female employees helps ensure that we appoint the best candidate to a given management position.
As in many other companies, women are underrepresented in the Group’s management, but we are working to improve the situation in our work on diversity and inclusion. One initiative is a development programme for women with management potential that was launched in Denmark in 2007-08 with 19 participants. The third group completed the programme in May 2009, and Danske Bank Sweden launched its version of the programme in September 2009.
Statistics show that the Group is moving in the right direction. The percentage of female managers rose from 28% in 2006 to 31% in 2007 and 34% at the end of 2009.

As the chart below shows, an important factor in the rising percentage of female managers is the high percentage found at units in Finland, the Baltic states and Northern Ireland.
