The Danske Bank Group has a long tradition of good collaboration with local trade unions based on a common interest in long-term solutions that meet both the Group’s and the employees’ needs.

Good dialogue and the will to find compromises are consistent with the Group’s principle of consulting unions and involving them in relevant issues concerning the employees' working conditions.
In return, the unions act as constructive adversaries, for example, when business conditions require an adjustment of the workforce.
As the Danske Bank Group has developed into an international business, it makes sense that we develop relations with unions in a more comprehensive collaborative framework. For this reason, the Group became the first financial company in Europe to sign an agreement with UNI Finance, which is part of UNI Global Union, the international umbrella organisation for trade unions.
By signing the agreement, the Group confirmed its obligation to ensure fundamental employee rights in areas such as equal remuneration, competency development and safety as well as the right to association. The agreement also supports basic rights in countries where there is a risk of abuses such as child labour and compulsory labour.
The agreement also confirmed the Group’s commitment to integrating and promoting the UN Global Compact’s ten principles on human rights, working conditions, environmental protection and anti-corruption. The Group joined the Global Compact in 2007.
| In October 2008, UNI Global Union recognised the Danske Bank Group’s contribution to creating good working conditions in the global economy by giving the Group the ”UNI Decent Work Company Award”. |
