Danica Health Promoter
Our health work for employees throughout the Danske Bank Group is based on Danica Health Promoter (in Danish, Danica Sundhedsfremmer), which was launched by Danica Pension in 2008. The programme consists of health check-ups and other elements. In 2009, the programme was offered to all employees at Danica Pension. In 2010, Danica offered a more extensive programme to employees who needed to make an extra effort for their health - and wanted to do so themselves. In 2011 Danica evaluated this follow-up programme, which consisted of six months of dieting and personal training, and the result was very positive. For instance, the number of employees with a "very poor" health rating was reduced by almost 50%.
Fitness grants in Norway
Fokus Bank of Norway has made a big effort to promote employee health. The bank offers each employee NOK 2,500 towards participation in fitness activities such as team sports, weightlifting and dance. The bank also has environmental and health initiatives at its employee canteens. The canteens consider the nutritional value of the food they serve while striving to reduce the negative impact on the environment, for example by reducing the use of food packaging.
Northern Bank staff Get Fit for Life
Northern Bank recognises the value of good health in its employees to the bank, the wider community and of course to the staff themselves. It also understands the challenges that many of its employees are facing in the current financial climate, both at work and in their personal lives. The bank has therefore launched a comprehensive well-being campaign called Northern Well-being: Get Fit for Life, which focuses on the physical, social and emotional health and the personal development of its staff. These are the objectives of the campaign:
- To empower employees to make informed choices to improve their well-being
- To help employees combat stress and develop resilience
- To create a more productive, attractive and responsible workplace
- To reduce absence levels
The bank has set up a well-being committee and sought local well-being champions to help to drive the initiative forward in their branches and business units by organising events and generating ideas. A new Web page, the well-being hub, provides the staff with a wide range of advice on various matters related to physical, social and mental well-being.
The initiative has been very well received by Northern Bank staff, and the bank has won prizes for the campaign.
