The Danske Bank Group invests in carbon credits from a wind power project near the west coast of Lithuania. The credits are certified by the Verified Emissions Reductions (VER+) standard. The Rudaiciai Wind Power Park contains 15 wind turbines with the total capacity 30 MW. The project is intended to generate energy for the local grid and thus reduce emissions from greenhouse gases such as CO2 by partially replacing power production in Lithuanian power plants that run on fossil fuel.
Besides reducing CO2 emissions, the project will reduce emissions of other pollutants that result from fossil fuel combustion such as SO2 and NOx. It will also help promote the use of renewable energy resources, protect the environment and create new jobs in the local community.
