Together with the introduction of its Green Fleet package, Nordania Leasing, one the Danske Bank Group’s two leasing units, has formulated a number of environmental requirements for its own fleet of currently 72 vehicles. For example, all vehicles must be diesel vehicles with A to F eco-ratings. With the new requirements, Nordania expects carbon emissions by its fleet to drop by as much as 15% and fuel consumption to decline. In other words, both the environment and Nordania’s profits benefit from the Green Fleet policy.
Refunds for employees
As part of its new fleet policy, Nordania encourages its employees to opt for eco-friendly alternatives: Nordania makes monthly refunds of DKr1,000 to all employees who choose A-rated vehicles and refunds of DKr500 to employees who go for B-rated vehicles. These refunds are possible because A- and B-rated vehicles consume less fuel than other vehicles.
The policy is also an opportunity for employees to drive vehicles that, despite a higher purchase price, have a total cost of ownership that is lower than that of other vehicles.
Environmental effects reports and eco-safe driving lessons
Nordania introduced its Green Fleet package to customers at the beginning of 2008. As a supplement to developing green fleet policies for its customers, Nordania offers
- online environmental effects reports with data on the customer’s fleet, fuel consumption and carbon and sulphur-dioxide emissions
- advice on how to develop green-fleet employee incentive programmes
- eco-safe driving lessons (beginning in August 2008)
- introductory courses on safety gear and first aid (beginning in August 2008)
