Telepresence
The Danske Bank Group has implemented a new kind of videoconference known as telepresence meetings. The Group has invested DKr30m in 13 studios for telepresence meetings to reduce travel time and increase efficiency.
Telepresence meetings had their debut in the preparations for the migration of the Sampo Bank at Easter 2008, when people involved in the project were able to use studios in Copenhagen and Helsinki. The current plan is to set up studios in Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn, Trondheim, Stockholm, Belfast, Dublin, Helsinki and Denmark.
eMeetings
eMeetings are available to all Danske Bank Group employees. The program can be used internally in the Group and externally with both customers and external suppliers. Each eMeeting participant links up via his or her PC and is in contact with the other participants via the screen and a telephone or PC headset.
The capacity to share visual material makes eMeetings more useful than conference calls for presenting complex issues. In many cases, eMeetings can also be used instead of physical meetings, and this has a very positive impact on the environment.
For example, holding an eMeeting instead of a conventional meeting between a person in Bangalore, India, and a person in Copenhagen, Denmark, will lower CO2 emissions by 902 kg per person.
The Danske Bank Group uses eMeetings as a means of communication between India and Denmark because the Group has outsourced a number of IT projects to Bangalore. The Group is actively working to expand the use of eMeetings to all Group units.
