Since 2003, Sampo Bank's financial donations have focused on supporting Finnish comprehensive and upper secondary schools. Thus far, the Bank has given grants for 300 projects worth a total of €800,000. Every year the grants concern a new theme.
In 2007 the theme was "Save the World", and the grants were awarded to projects involving the environment and our personal responsibility for our surroundings. In August, Sampo Bank awarded €200,000 to 62 schools in Finland. More than 400 schools applied for the grants.
In addition to these grants, Sampo Bank also donated former US Vice President Al Gore's DVD "An inconvenient Truth" to all upper secondary schools in Finland.
