At Realkredit Danmark, we want to increase the number of Smart Square Metres in Danish schools and workplaces.
Smart Square Metres are physical settings that inspire pupils and employees to think smart and unconventionally. Smart Square Metres are the mobile desk in your office and the room for storytelling and other creative activities at your school. Smart Square Metres are inspiring environments wherever you are.
As a company with a strong tradition of innovative thinking, we want to help others achieve the same. Being a mortgage credit institution, it is only natural that we focus on physical settings. This is why we set up the Realkredit Danmark Smart Square Metres Pool and the Realkredit Danmark Smart Square Metres Award in 2006.
Realkredit Danmark’s Smart Square Metres Pool supports projects that create or improve the physical settings of schools in Denmark. We give the Smart Square Metres Award to workplaces that have made an extraordinary effort to increase their number of smart square metres because we believe that a motivating and inspiring environment will help generate new ideas – ideas that will benefit us all.
In 2008, more than 1,300 schools submitted applications for Smart Square Metre funds. We awarded DKr2.3m to 51 schools across the country, and over the past three years, 122 schools have received a total of DKr5.6m from the pool. To qualify, schools must present a plan that will improve the physical settings for learning, teamwork and the development of new ideas.
We give the Smart Square Metres award to innovative workplaces. The programme consists of 22 local awards and a national award. The next awards will be presented in the autumn of 2008.
