With its signing of a new global investor statement, the Danske Bank Group speaks in favour of combating global warming. The statement sends a clear message to the negotiations taking place during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP16) in Mexico from 29 November to 16 December 2010.
Global Initiative
In November 2010, the Danske Bank Group – including its subsidiary Danica Pension and the brand Danske Capital – signed the global investor statement, thus joining more than 250 of
the world’s leading investors.
The message to governments throughout the world and their climate negotiators at the Climate Change Conference, at which a successor to the 1997 Kyoto Protocol is being considered, is thus clear: "Take action now in the fight against global warming or risk economic disruptions far more severe than the ones we have experienced so far."
A UNEP FI Initiative
The unmistakable call for action was initiated by UNEP FI – a partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme and the global financial sector. The statement is to signal the investors’ unequivocal call for politicians to create the optimum setting for investments in long-term climate solutions through legislation.
