Sampo Bank is the third largest bank in Finland and has an approx. 15% market share in Finland. Sampo Bank has a total of 1.5 million customers incl. corporate customers. The bank offers a full banking service (incl. in-branch mortgage brokerage) and has about 4,600 employees. The distribution network consists of 159 branches.
In late 2000 the bank entered the Baltics through the acquisition of banks in Estonia and Lithuania, and it entered Latvia in 2004. Profibank in St Petersburg was aqcuired in 2006. Total lending amounts to €21.3bn at end September 2006.
The Private and Corporate customers segments are the focus of Sampo Bank's business.
Sampo Bank is part of the Sampo Group in Finland. Sampo Group was founded in 1887 through the creation of the Post & Savings Bank by the Finnish government. The group evolved into its current form in 2004, after it acquired a majority stake in IF holding.
