In recent years Danske Bank's position has been strengthened through a series of acquisitions. We acquired Östgöta Enskilda Bank in Sweden in 1997 and Fokus Bank in Norway in 1999. In 2000, Danske Bank merged with RealDanmark, the parent company of BG Bank and Realkredit Danmark. In 2005 we
acquired National Irish Bank in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Bank in Northern Ireland. In November 2006, Danske Bank
acquired Sampo Bank in Finland. Sampo Bank operates in Finland, Baltikum and has one branch in St. Petersborg.
