Great network and  excellent opportunities

My job allows me to become involved in many different projects. I am involved in everything from image campaigns to the purchase of merchandise, customer events and much more. I usually volunteer for the projects in which I participate. This is extremely motivating and, as a result, I am 100% committed to the projects I am involved in. Currently I am working on an investment game which is exclusively an online campaign. I have had a coordinating role for all our partners – but, for example, I have also been the person who sourced the prizes.

Targeted customer events
Amongst other activities, I also help to organise customer events. We stream customers based on their status with the bank and organise targeted events that are exactly suited to the individual. I often participate in the whole project from inception to implementation. Sometimes I am also ‘on location’ when the event is held. It is always nice to see how customers react and to receive regular feedback from them. It is very inspiring.

Switching jobs within the Danske Bank Group
Another advantage of working in a large Group is that there is room for professional and personal development woth tje same employer. I was previously a mortgage adviser in BG Bank. Thanks to my decision to continue my education hand in hand with my job, I was subsequently able to switch to a completely different role. This has given me a flexible profile – which suits me perfectly.

Politics can sometimes be an issue
In a large Group like this, things can get a little confused every now and then. The other day I met a colleague who worked in a team like mine, but I had no idea that it even existed. There can be many levels to negotiate for one issue to be approved, for example. This can sometimes become somewhat political. But it is not a problem; I can handle it and find my own position.

Make an unsolicited application and receive an interesting offer
Before joining Danske Bank I worked in another bank. I studied for the first part of my BCom and one of my study group colleagues recommended that I should move to the Danske Bank Group. I sent in an unsolicited application and was called for an initial interview. At the interview we talked about the sort of job I could see myself doing. So they found me a branch where I became a mortgage adviser. It was an informal process which eventually led to my present job.

The Bank supports further education
When I chose to take relatively expensive education programmes, the Bank footed the bill – not only in terms of the course fees and books but also by allowing me time off. In the coming year I will study for the IAA qualification. This is important for me because I have found that I develop myself both at a professional and personal level through further education.

Leisure: Travel – particularly to big cities. I think the combination of wide boulevards and small, local side streets is fantastic. It is great to experience something completely different from my normal day. There is space to have a life alongside work.

Best staff benefits: Flexibility – I can plan my days the way I like. For example, we don’t have fixed meeting times. If I have an evening meeting I can take an equivalent amount of time off the next morning as long as there aren’t any urgent project deadlines or too many people absent from the team.

In five years: I picture myself still working in marketing. This is a new area for me and, as long as the projects are interesting and challenging, I will continue working here.
