When I started the Graduate Programme in the it development organisation in early 2007 I immediately became part of a project in connection with the migration of Sampo Bank. I help construct a new log on e-banking solution, which will enable Finnish customers to use their e-banking after Easter 2008 when the Finnish Sampo Bank will be migrated to the Group's platform.

Still a lot to learn
My most important tool from my student days is probably a methodical approach to assimilating new knowledge. I have a lot to learn about the financial sector, but I think I have quickly acquired a certain insight into the different business areas – and that is also necessary.
In my role as it business developer, I am the point of connection beween the business and system segments. The communication part of my education is mostly a tool for me in my daily work, but still a very important tool. My work consists of documenting the current solution and specifying the future solution, so that both the customer and the bank’s needs are realised. A large amount of my time is also spent on planning the implementation of the new log-on solution for the Finnish customers.
Around it development organisation
The job gives me a good organisational overview of the Group. I am on rotation in the entire it development organisation in different projects and different departments. This will give me a wide knowledge of the organisation, where I can build up my experience with hands-on experience.
My plans for the future are not yet fixed, but I am very interested in organisational implementation. This is a large workplace with opportunities for both professional development and a career. Of course, large companies also have very fixed ground rules, so sometimes you feel like a little fish in a big pond – a pond with many opportunities.
Network to other it candidates
I am very satisfied with the Graduate Programme, where I have daily contact with my closest colleagues and also a network of other, newly qualified graduates. I use my Graduate Programme network a lot, and we often discuss how we handle the various challenges of being new to the organisation. We can draw on each other for a lot of experience.
