I began the Graduate Programme in the it development organisation on 1 September 2006, and today I work as test manager in Consultancy Services, which is the internal consulting firm in the it development organisation. I am attached to a project concerning a new log on procedure for the online bank, enabling it to be used for Finnish customers when Sampo Bank is converted to the Group platform at Easter 2008.

Try to influence user friendliness
As a test manager, I am responsible for the whole testing process in my project. Based on the original requirements for the project, the test manager plans the testing process and cases, so that as many errors as possible are found as fast as possible, but also so that the final product lives up to what was originally required.
This role suits me fine – both in relation to my education at Aalborg University and in relation to my personal interest in user-friendliness. My time as a student was very focused on project work, so I am used to both the planning and documentation sides. At the same time, user-friendliness was my greatest area of interest during my education and I try all the time to have an influence on this – because it interests me, but also because I think it is important.
Logical mathematics in the spotlight
I have also had a number of eye-opening experiences in my job. At university I sometimes sat and wondered whether I would ever get to use my subject, but logical mathematics suddenly re-appeared in the spotlight. One day, I had to make some combinations of options on a homepage to be tested – and it was logical mathematics in a nut shell. Apart from professional ability, the most important tool I brought with me from my student years is the ability to pick up knowledge and convert it into practical action.
In the long term, I would like to work in management, and I already have a plan for reaching my goal. I will try, above all, to provide high quality and the best possible results in my projects. I also want to continue to educate myself further and the Group has a lot of courses for me to choose within personal development. Because there is generally great emphasis on both personal and professional development in the organisation
Both older and younger colleagues
The advantages of having both older and younger colleagues become evident when we discuss different issues in the department. The combination of different levels of experience and various points of view provides a great working environment.
Like many other new employees, I was surprised at the relaxed style and tone in Danske Bank’s development organisation. I thought the Group was top-managed and conservative, but this is certainly not the case in the development organisation. It is not far from management to the employees and the daily contact in both department and projects is very relaxed. In fact I do not think I have yet been to a project meeting, in which we have not all fallen about laughing at some point or other.
