Space to develop yourselfSpace to develop yourself

In the Danske Bank Group there are enormous opportunities for personal development – and these opportunities are found across the Group’s companies in every country. You start in one place in the Group, but you can end up somewhere else. I haven’t worked in the Bank for that long, but already look on this space to develop as a major advantage.

Tina Skjalm, 38 years
Qualifications: BSc public relations, Roskilde University
Job title: Journalist and Intranet Editor
Department: Group HR & Communications
Experience: One year with Danske Bank

The Intranet creates a common focus
My job is extremely varied – from establishing best practice and measuring the communication input in addition to the purely journalistic side. I am part of an Intranet editorial team with a daily target audience of about 12,000 readers in Denmark alone. The Intranet functions as a daily focus for the Group’s readers and is part of the putty that binds all of us together across a range of products such as pensions, mortgage finance, banking and leasing.

Scope for both pride and a questioning outlook
There is scope for inspirational features, ones that make you proud, but also for stories that question the ways in which we perform and behave. Many aspects have to be taken into consideration because the readership is so diverse, but this is what makes it fascinating. Because, despite all the different cultures and frontiers across the companies, we are really not so different. One of the challenges of working in a large group is to create an overview of the many information systems in both the Group’s Danish and foreign companies.

Helping colleagues to play the right cards
There are many things about my job that motivate me. For example, I am able to help when it comes to providing colleagues with the right cards for answering questions from customers, family and friends concerning press reports about the Group. Another motivator for me is being able to advise other companies, within the Group, in situations where we act as a sounding board and communicator of best practice.

Talented and enthusiastic colleagues
A third and very important motivating factor are the many talented and enthusiastic colleagues I have both in Denmark and abroad. It is incredibly inspiring to have such a large and professional network.

Leisure: I read lots of books. I have three-year-old twins.

Best staff benefits: The share purchase scheme that allows staff to purchase securities.

In five years: I see myself in a management role, preferably in Danske Bank.
