The whole IT organisation is permeated by a freedom with responsibility mentality. We have a relaxed style and conversational tone, and there is plenty of room for ideas and ambitions. The average age is around 40. About one third of the Danish staff are women; one in three staff have an academic education.
One Group – one system
The Group’s IT strategy “One group – one system” underpins everything we undertake. When we need to develop new solutions we first start by identifying the components already in use on the platform which can also be used in the new solution. Thereafter we define the new, required functionality. Only then do we start on new development. This approach is based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and ensures both a high level of efficiency and a short development time from idea to finished product.
Pioneering spirit
Every time the Group takes over a bank the new acquisition has to be integrated onto the common platform. Migrating banks in this way is one of our leading areas of expertise which has ensured our place as a pioneer in the financial sector. It is actually quite unique for a group to operate from one platform. In 2006 we completed the migration of our two Irish banks Northern Bank and National Irish Bank onto the Group’s central platform – 160 branches, 900,000 customers and more than 1 million accounts migrated over a period of 14 months.
The total project
Every year we deal with 100-150 projects of various sizes from 172 to 700 man-years. In order to get these projects off the ground we have both specialists, who work with the most advanced technologies and software, and generalists, who manage the project through all the development phases. Our “Total project” development model ensures that all phases of the project are carried out – from idea generation and analysis through to design and construction.
