I have some really good colleagues. We can laugh together and discuss professional issues. We support each other as and when required. All of this occurs simultaneously, which is what happens when there is a really good collegiate atmosphere. It makes going to work enjoyable.

My expertise is used in different departments
I am a systems developer and generally work with user-oriented web development of eBanking. I have been in this department since I started.
My job is to analyse the processes that users need to go through and I help document the functionality required to support the processes. As an internal consultant I work on different projects which make use of my expertise and skills. My particular professional skills mean that I can be used throughout the organisation. The systems I design must be capable of being used internationally and in all the branded divisions.
Opportunities for my own professional development
I heard from a student friend that Danske Bank was a good place to work. There are many job opportunities and the terms of employment are excellent. It means a lot to me that I am able to develop myself professionally. I am lucky to have the chance to move around different functions and have the choice of pursuing any direction that I find interesting. There is also the option to go on courses and take an education. All in all, the Group can draw on many different expert skills and resources.
No need to wear a tie
The image of Bankers is weighty, dry and stiff. I been here for 18 months and I now appreciate that this image is totally unfounded. I have been surprised by how much influence you can wield if you want it – and you don’t have to wear a tie.
You are listened to
I have had the chance to take increasingly greater responsibility and work on more complex projects. I have learnt to get on in a large organisation, and even though it can take a long time between submitting an idea and it reaching the top of the decision making process, you are listened to.
I can use my academic background
I have just been included in discussions about vision and image with senior management in the department. Apart from being the ‘shop floor representative’ it was extremely rewarding to be able to use the communication background that I have. I was able to contribute on an academic level, and that was the basis of my discussing communication. We were a mixed group with different skills and expertise, all of which could be utilised. It was good to be involved.
