When we choose and develop managers we focus on several leadership disciplines: professional management, strategic management, performance oriented management and people management. All managers need to focus on ensuring that they have contented and committed staff who are able to develop personally and professionally. And this should all be achieved on the basis of each individual staff member’s personal expertise and skills, preferences and needs.
Every manager has unique expertise and skills
We have a management infrastructure that applies to all managers throughout the Group. But this does not mean that good management is fostered by regulation. In a Group that covers so many areas, there are different focus expectations for each and every individual manager. This is why every single management job has a detailed job description, identifying the expertise and skills that are relevant to the challenges of that specific role.

Management development across business areas
We have developed our own management development programme, based on the daily challenges encountered by managers. The management development programme is common to all the business areas in all the different countries. In this way, our managers have the opportunity to swap experiences and learn from each other on a group-wide basis. Many of the Group’s managers also participate in seminars and courses at international business schools and on masters programmes.
In addition, we have programmes that are tailor-made for female and young managers who have the potential to take on even larger management roles.
