The Group has about 298,000 shareholders. According to the Danish Securities Trading Act, shareholders must notify a company if their shareholding exceeds 5% of the company’s share capital or exceeds higher percentages divisible by 5.
Who are the major shareholders in the Group?
Around twenty investors control just under half the share capital of the company. Two shareholder groups have notified the Bank that they hold more than 5% of its share capital:
- A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation and companies of the A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group, Copenhagen
- Realdania, Copenhagen.

In December 2004, the A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation and companies of the A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group, Copenhagen, notified the Bank that they collectively owned more than 20% of the ordinary voting shares of the Group. Realdania, Copenhagen, indicated that it held less than 15% of the shares.
Which are the largest groups of international investors?
The Group estimates that around half the Bank’s share capital is owned by shareholders abroad. The USA accounts for the largest group of foreign shareholders, with holdings of slightly over 10% of the share capital. The second-largest group is UK investors, with holdings of around 10%.
