Business and Data Analyst
for Asset Management

As part of a newly developed IT platform strategy, Asset Management has decided that there is a need to invest more strategically in our data management capabilities in order to improve the quality of our data and to increase our operational efficiency.

We are now seeking to recruit a Business and Data Analyst on a permanent basis to join a team of professionals that will be responsible for delivering our information management program. In this role, you will take responsibility for analysing data issues identified by the business, identify the root causes of those issues, and advice the team relating to how those issues can be resolved by applying best practices within data management.

Location: The position can either be in Copenhagen or in Vilnius.

To be successful as a Business and Data Analyst, you need to be inquisitive and persistent. You need to be willing to go the extra mile in order to find the underlying cause of what is causing a particular problem to the business. You need to be structured, analytical and persistent. You need to continue asking the right questions until you have the answers you came for. You will present your findings to the rest of the team, and represent the business stakeholders when they are not available to answer questions. You need to have great communication skills, and you need to be fluent when it comes to producing documentation including data model descriptions and workflow diagrams.

  • Advice the organization on solutions to resolve data issues based on data management best practices, such as DAMA-DMBOK, in order to improve the organizations data management capabilities
  • Analyse and identify the root causes to the data issues being brought to the table, and document those findings
  • Produce and maintain both “as-is” and “to-be” diagrams relating to business workflows, data flows, as well as data models and data structures
  • Supporting the business with advice relating to where and how to source data, including identification of authoritative sources, and possible implementation of data marts
  • Provide clear instructions (requirements) to developers or other members of the implementation team
  • Develop and maintain a meta data repository covering all data within the organization
  • Supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization
  • Troubleshooting the reporting database environment and reports
  • Support business with Quality Assurance and Testing, in order to ensure data consistency during any project
  • Coaching and training of business users on data management practices
  • Providing expertise on data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing and data retention schemes
  • At least 5 years hands-on experience as Business or Data Analyst, ideally within Financial Services, but other industries will also be considered
  • Experience from DAMA-DMBOK or equivalent data management frameworks in both THEORY and PRACTICE
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in computer science or similar
  • Experience from implementation of common data models, schemas and normalization typically found within data warehouse and data mart design, including snowflake, star, third normal form (3NF)
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to assess potential risks
  • Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations
  • Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms
  • High-level experience in methodologies and processes for managing large scale databases
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases
  • Understanding of addressing and metadata standards
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills
