Maths Centre

In January 2012, Danske Bank signed a sponsorship agreement with the Maths Centre (Matematikcenter), a volunteer organisation in Denmark and Sweden. The reason for the Group's collaboration is that the Maths Centre offers free homework assistance to young people in mathematics and personal finance. Our Financial Literacy Programme is central to our corporate responsibility work, so it is a logical extension of our own initiatives to support other financial literacy projects.

In 2012, Danske Bank employees volunteered in the “Mathematics on the square” event in Stockholm. The event attracted 300 students from upper secondary schools who got advice from more than 70 volunteers and practiced their mathematical skills for the national examinations.

The project originated in Sweden
The original initiative of volunteer homework assistance began in Sweden in 2008 under the name Mattecentrum. It is now helps some 60,000 young people with their homework in 17 Swedish cities. In Denmark, the Maths Centre currently located in nine locations in the cities of Aarhus, Copenhagen and Odense, and several other cities have expressed an interest in the project.
