The German Central Bank has announced that the German banking association will ensure that, overall, the old legacy formats and payment types are accepted for SEPA payments until 1 August 2014.
Excluded from this transition period is the irrevocable domestic direct debit type "Abbuchung" used for B2B with the end date of 1 Feb 2014.
The German SEPA Council is still advising companies, associations and public administrations, to complete the SEPA migration and to change payments to the new SEPA format by 1 February 2014 as the proposal of the EU-commission to extend the SEPA migration end date will not replace the incorporated German SEPA-directive and its enactment.
